KEEP MUSIC LIVE!

"It was worth every penny to have live music" - Quote from a recent Stake Dance

Colin ruined his Dad's guitar at around the age of 11 and has been ruining his own ever since then. He grew up listening to an eclectic mix of music and at one point was far too into Prog than was healthy and at the same time had an unrivalled collection of rare Queen records (unrivalled in King's Lynn that is). His bass rig is not nearly as loud as he'd like it to be and consists of a Warwick Corvette, a Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver, a bespoke Orchid Electronics cut-off switch and Ashdown amplification. Although he takes on bass duties in The Connections his first passion is acoustic music and he spends several hours a week taking his Lowden 010c to new heights and drooling over acoustics on the web. His acoustic influences come courtesy of Richard Thompson, Phil Beer, Leo Kottke, Kelly Joe Phelps and Bert Jansch (we've never heard of them either) and his rock 'n' roll influences are The Clash, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Radiohead. In 2002 he recorded his mini-album of original and cover material, 'Meet Me On the Westway...' copies of which he exported to Sweden, France and the USA. He's known Toby for longer than they'd both care to remember and played together in the legendary band Vinyl Grooveyard who's first fans used to stand in a telephone box out on the street and listen to them rehearse. He's been playing in The Connections since 2002 and is married to Anna.

Favourite Albums: 'Tap the Red Cane Whirlwind' (Kelly Joe Phelps), 'London Calling' (The Clash), 'Led Zeppelin II' (Led Zeppelin) and 'Hunky Dory' (David Bowie).

On the band:
Toby I've known Toby for ages and played on stage with him plenty of times over the years. I'm not sure he likes jokes about drummers very much though. He's like a metronome, an absolute guarantee.
Andrew We grew up in the same area and because Andrew has a few years on me I remember rather looking up to him as a guitar hero. He's a very precise player and likes things to be perfect. That's just as well as it's a good counter to my more shambolic attitude.

Stuart Our newest member and newest best friend. A fine musician and his backing vocals on 'Back for Good' have to be heard to be believed.
