"It was worth every penny to have live music" - Quote from a recent event

Andrew began learning the piano at a young age and then took up electric guitar in his teens.  His first band, consisting of school friends, was called Golden Liege, and he has fond memories of playing in school assembly and at his local community centre in Hellesdon, Norwich.  In 2000, he formed Flight To Freedom with keyboard player Andrew Moore, and played at numerous church functions and other parties around the country.  The two Andrews later formed The Connections with Colin Williams.

He has an unhealthy fascination with guitar gear and has owned numerous guitars, amps and effects over the years, although they invariably end up on eBay whenever he fancies something new.  His current guitars are a honeyburst USA Gibson Les Paul Classic with Bare Knuckle pickups, an amber Fender American Series Stratocaster Deluxe FMT (flame maple top) and a Japanese Fender Stratocaster, which he's owned for over 20 years.  The Jap Strat has been a vehicle for serious customisation and electronic experimentation: the pickups have been replaced three times, along with virtually every other part of hardware.  He uses an Orange AD30 valve head with a Marshall 1922 2x12 cabinet.  He has a bunch of quality stomp boxes (Fulltone, Xotic, T-Rex, etc) and custom MIDI-controlled switching devices from Wobo Guitar Electronics.  This means that he generally spends more time fiddling with knobs, dials and midi programming than he does actually playing his instrument.

Favourite Guitarists: Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, Eric Johnson, Alex Lifeson, Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Jimmy Page, Joe Bonamassa, Mike Stern ...  (the list goes on and is rather too long to be of general interest).

On the band:
Colin – I’ve known Colin for a lot of years.  He’s a great musician and a good friend.  We've had loads of fun trips to guitar shops, where we've frequently influenced each other to spend more money than we can afford.

Toby – It’s great having Toby in the band.  He’s a solid performer with a wide understanding of music.  Keeps us all in time.  He's also loud, which means I can turn up loud too!

Stuart – Stuart and I entered the MTC together in September 1988 and then served as missionary companions in Barrow-in-Furness.  We’ve kept in touch since our missions and it’s a pleasure to have him in the band.  He’s a great keyboard player and a great musician.
